Vegan Diet or Diets involving Animal Products?

In this article we will be discussing the nutrient and ethical differences between eating a vegan diet and eating a diet that contains animal products

Personal Journey

I would like to note that I grew up eating an omnivorous, standard American diet, but I am now transitioning into a balanced vegan diet (I only eat vegan, however, I am newly vegan, so I have much to learn :)) However, I can say, over these last few weeks I have felt lighter and more energetic than when I was consuming dairy and animal meats.

I have decided on maintaining a vegan diet due to the terrible conditions the animals raised for meat exist within. I would rather take a stance against the abuse rather than eat a tasty hunk of unethically raised/sourced meat.

I also have been on a journey of finding the healthiest diet for me, so a vegan diet is aligned with my intentions and morals on several levels

This post is to spread knowledge from my research, personal accounts, and inner knowledge and to interact with others on their own personal health/food journeys, while also raising awareness on the abuse and inhumane conditions most farmed animals endure during their short lives before slaughter

Is veganism sustainable for anyone?

Research suggests that maintaining a balanced vegan diet can be beneficial for all types of people and health concerns. However, pregnant women, children, and older adults need to ensure attention to proper intake of necessary nutrients to avoid any deficiencies, as they have slightly different needs than the average person (everyone varies)

Tofu

This versatile, nutrient rich protein is great in any dish. There are countless ways to deliciously prepare Tofu including breading and frying (I enjoy marinating preferred cuts, coating in corn starch, then deep frying), baking, sautéing, or raw

Tofu is high in protein and contains all of the essential amino acids your body needs, making it a complete protein source

Eating a balanced vegan diet ensures that you are fueling your body with all of the nutrients that you need

Fruits, vegetables, protein, amino acids, vitamins ++ (it is recommended to supplement a few vitamins to ensure proper intake)

When deciding on whether or not to adopt a vegan diet, it is important to note that there are vegan substitutions for essentially all animal products that are just as delicious and probably healthier for you, if giving them up is a concern :)

Diet Containing Meat and Dairy

Eating a balanced omnivorous diet can be nutritious, however, many have developed health issues due to their diet containing animal products; issues that resolved through a vegan diet. There have also been cases of people being directed to reintroduce meat to their diet for deficiencies... which, I believe could be resolved through a more balanced version of veganism, maybe adding supplements.

Not only are animal products more likely to create and feed health concerns, but the animals the ingredients are coming from poses a large spiritual issue. Their spirits experience heinous treatment, resulting in low vibrational energy to be stored within their bodies... when you consume that flesh it is passed to you, however, you may be able to clear the energy through intentional energetic clearing of the meat (dependent on your own belief system). I personally don't find it practical or morally correct to continue to create a demand for animal products when the animals are treated so poorly.

If you are going to continue consuming animal products, try finding more ethical sources to help us battle the industrial farm abuse on sweet, intelligent, innocent creatures

When eating a diet that contains animal products, the products consumed have the ability to pass parasites and diseases to the consumers.

There are also links to increase of certain cancers, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, along with personal cases of other effects

However, animal products can most certainly be a part of a healthy diet, depending on individual persons needs, beliefs, and consumption amount - animal product containing diets also need to be balanced in order to maintain a healthy diet

Personal Finding

I have been eating vegan for about 3-4 weeks

I am currently in my first menstrual cycle since eating a vegan diet

Before eating vegan I would know my cycle was starting because my breasts would become very sore, tender, and swollen... however, this cycle snuck up on me a bit as I had no breast symptoms. I feel this may be due to cutting out meat and dairy

In Conclusion,

find the diet that works best for you: physically, nutritionally, and morally. Anything in overconsumption can be harmful to your health; moderation is key

If you are curious where most meat/animal products in markets come from, do a bit of research. I suggest watching "Dominion 2018"

I will close with saying, I enjoy most meats, I enjoy the flavors and most textures, however, I personally do not find it reasonable to create the demand for animal suffrage when we have more than enough vegan options at our hands, in and out of grocery stores

Figure out what works best for you, please just keep in mind the impact your choices may have on other lives <3
